Nothing can separate us from Christ, except us separating from Christ. "But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved" (Matt 24: 12-13).

Scripture nowhere teaches that salvation can never be lost. True, as long as believers remain under the umbrella of justification by faith, they have full assurance of salvation. But the righteousness that saves them - the righteousness that qualifies them for heaven, now and in the judgment - is always IN CHRIST. The faith that makes the righteousness if Christ in us as individuals - is not in Christ but IN US. We are still living in Satan's territory and Satan can touch that faith. Believers who deliberately and irrevocably abandon their faith in Christ also forfeit all the blessings God has obtained for them in Christ.

Hebrews 10:26 says "If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of truth, no sacrifice for sins is left". The 'sin' that Paul is referring to is no sin against the law, but the sin of unbelief. Any sin committed against the law is forgiven, because Jesus paid the price for every sin committed against the law. But when a sinner sins against grace - which is the sin of unbelief - he is willfully rejecting the gift of salvation in Christ (Galatians 5:4).

Thank you for posting this. And for people like Ragdata who posts verses from the bible thinking they can pull a Christian to be an unbeliever, is entirely wrong. They need to read the context clues, because they don't fully understand the truth. But they are unsaved, and it would be hard for them to understand. - Taylor

I think its a case of, there is nothing you can do so evil or sinful that'll it'll make Christ turn from you once your saved, however if you CHOOSE to leave christ and reject him, then you will no longer be saved in the end times.

Jesus is a gentleman and will not push salvation upon you if you don't want it, but salvation is always there waitin for you, but its your choice whether you want to except it. :) - Marvin

I won't add more fuel to the debate here other than to say that this "eternal security" thing seems to me to be an over-reaction on the part of our forefathers who had been freed from oppressive legalism.

In the effort to combat the bad idea of legalism (along with the insecurity of feeling "good" one day and "bad" the next), the good idea of grace became an argument for logicians and seminarians rather than a real gift from God that we have been redeemed by.

To me, the Bible is more than clear that God's redeemed can choose to turn away from him. That is called free will. It is NOT equivalent to saying that we are in the "saved box" one day, and out the next when we slip up.

I think turning away from God means really turning away from Him...choosing to walk away from the grace that is found in Jesus Christ. And yes, I do believe Scripture tells us that there are true believers who will do that. - Kevin Harper

Well said, but we must be true believers to be saved in the first place. I think what we do after we sin shows where our faith and salvation lies. - Reid

John 8. People believed and when Christ pointed out that they would be disciples indeed they denied Him: their Father, Jesus points out, was not God but rather the Devil.

They believed Him in one sense but when push came to shove they denied Him reflecting the internal reality that was always there.

Judas was a person who believed Jesus, knew His miracles and sat under his teaching for years: but he was not a believer in the sense of leaning on the Lord as His only hope--not at all. His denial reflected his internal state. - Rey

(Luk 12:8)
Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:

(Luk 12:9)
But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.

(Luk 12:10)
And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.

So, it appears that, if you are saved, then backslide and deny Him, He denies you, and that means you are not saved. - swampthing

I would argue that it is impossible for a true Christian to ever do what Jesus is saying for a blasphemy against the Holy Spirit would consist of no physical words but of internal denial. - Rey Reynoso

RUBBISH!

" Every sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men; BUT THE BLASPHEMY AGAINST THE SPIRIT shall not be forgiven" (Mt 12:31)

" But whosoever shall blaspheme against the Holy Spirit hath NEVER forgiveness " (Mr3:29)

" For if we sin wilfully after we have received the knowledge of truth, there remaineth no more a sacrifice for sins, (27) BUT A CERTAIN FEARFUL EXPECTATION OF JUDGEMENT ..." (Heb10:26)

" BUT WHOSO SHALL CAUSE ONE OF THESE LITTLE ONES TO STUMBLE, IT IS BETTER FOR HIM THAT A GREAT MILLSTONE SHOULD BE HANGED ABOUT HIS NECK, AND THAT HE SHOULD BE SUNK INTO THE DEPTH OF THE SEA " (Mt18:6) - Ragdata
