Herman - Thanks for the encouragement and the help!! It was a pleasure writing the series. There is much in Calvinism and even in TULIP that is helpful....I just think that it is an incomplete system... - pastorruss

Thank you Pastor Russ. It has been an excellent examination of TULIP(S) and should be required reading for all Calvinists.

I wonder if the weaknesses in TULIPcan be attributed to the circumstances in which they were defined, that is, the Canons of Dort. (I think of them as the Cannons of Dirt since they seem to muddy the living water that Jesus offers).

The Dort Synod was convened to deal with the teachings of Arminius. The Synod was about as political as spiritual if not more so. It was rigged, it was not intended as a dialog with the Arminians but to condemn them.

Subsequently, one Arminian was beheaded (Johan van Oldenbarneveld) and another put in prison (Hugo Grotius) He escaped but never really recovered. Such was the spirit of love under which TULIP was hammered out. The circumstances under which the Westminster Confession came about were not much better.

I think history teaches us that the Calvinists don\\\'t have much to be proud of and need careful examination in the light of Scripture. All the more reason to stick with the Word of God. SOLO SCRIPTURA! - Herman
