Is the Church the hope of the world? What is the purpose of
the Church? What are the guiding principles of the Church? I’m not going to
answer those questions, just link to a bunch of good articles that deal
tangentially with this. I may get to the question later but I have a lot on my plate right now.
- Survey of Bible Doctrine: The Church by Sid Litke
- Bob Deffinbaugh gives us an Introduction to the New Testament Church
- This site is simply occupied with Christ
- Donald L. Norbie strike a pleasant chord of assembly harmony
- Steve Hulshizer surveys the marks of a New Testament church
- A tale of two churches by Mark Frees
- John Scarsbrook has two pieces on fellowship in the local church here and here
- John Ritchie takes a look at assembly privileges
- Alfred P. Gibbs talks about the importance of New Testament principles in a local gathering in an essay where he talks about why he meets among those known as the Brethren.

The following is an example of today’s preaching and
yesteryear’s theological stances which have carried into today. Begin
Transmission: When we study the Bible let’s make sure to do it
systematically—finding out all that the Scriptures have to say on a subject and
deducing our conclusion. In fact, you can even start the process by thinking
about the attributes of God then finding out how the Scriptures fits into your
thinking. Read on, and see how the Scriptures teach that we are to worship on
mountains. |

I’d best give an update of what’s going on so that your
prayers can be added to mine. My wife is fine although she has been put on bed
rest—so here’s why.

7:01 PM. Hamsters: they run for one reason. So they can
drink water, eat their food and get back to running.

Your enemy writes you a letter saying “Hey Man, we’re
brothers. Your house is my house, your wife is my wife and your kids are my
kids” How would you answer? I know how I would answer—and it’s not like Ahab
answered. How stupid do you have to be to get this kind of note and send back a
letter saying “It’s true, man, we’re one and the same—all that I have is
yours.” |
