Lingamish moved to a new address and is using the prettiness of wordpress. Show him some love since the spam-ware is going to give him a headache. Anyway, he has an interesting concept about Bible Puzzlers. It’s sort of like a Biblical Studies Group Participation thing but focus more on Bible Study and Application and subsequent application. Check it out. (I aso recommended some of you for it).

We Christians like to get into debates that there really is no answer to. And we get into a huge huff about it too. One old debate was the one about Angels and Pin points (not pin heads as is often cited although it does result in a certain amount of pin-headishness). I found a few articles: one that confirmed that there was some wacky discussions during the medieval period (though this one may not have been one of them), one that offers a methodology to answer the question and one (here’s the link and it’s also in the read more) that actually mathematically counted how many Angels can dance on the point of a pin.

When looking at John 3:14-16 I’ve encountered three major views which expand, restrict or flatten the text. The labels which I will be using are placed in an effort to categorize the interpretation not to refer to any of them pejoratively. Note that there may be some intermingling of these categories but this post isn’t concerned with that. Neither is this post concerned with any theological framework that may be influencing the interpretation. My sole purpose is to see if either of the interpretations handles the material correctly and if it supports the subsequent thesis.
