Speaking of languages, here's a question: how do different believers read Eph 2:8 an 9? Or, how do you lose all your readers in one fell swoop?
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves, it is the gift of God; not by works, lest anyone should
boast. -"Original"
For by prevenient grace leading to grace you have been saved through
faith after prevenient grace; and your faith is all yourself since all
types of grace are a gift of God; and kept by works, lest you lose your faith and fall
away. –Arminian Bible
For by grace you have been saved through regeneration by the Holy
Spirit; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not by
faith, lest anyone should boast. –Calvinist Bible
For by grace you have been saved through faith and works; and that
sort-of from yourselves, but also a gift of God; not just by faith or
just by works, lest it’s in vain. –Catholic Bible
For by God’s good grace you have been saved through faith in God’s
goodness for your prosperity; and that all by focusing on the
good—which is a gift of God; not for boasting (which is bad) but for
being humble (which is good). –Prosperity Movements
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not by
itself—it is one of the many gifts of God that you will be performing
miraculously; not by your works—but God’s miraculous works evident in
the church—lest anyone should boast, fall away and the Spirit be taken away. –Charismatic Bible
Added by David 'cause it was hilarious: By grace you have been saved from your previous state of uselessness
through finding your SHAPE, and that not of diligent Bible study, it is
the result of blindly following RW through 40 days of mistranslation,
eisegesis, and painfully distorted hermeneutics, lest God get the glory. -Purpose Driven Movement
Go on over a read Doug's versions. The He-Man one literally had me laughing out loud in my cubicle.
That’s all I could come up with. You got any? Mind you, these aren't meant to be thrown gauntlets...just being funny.

That Calvinist version is a bit hyper, but it's all in the name of fun.
This is a great idea, and I'll put it on my to-do list for the near future. I may even get a bit off the beaten path and Smurficize it or something.
Hmm... Finney's version should be good...
Written by david on 2005-04-19 20:24:21I know this is in fun, but I can't help making some corrections. I guess that's what's fun for the curmudgeon in me.
I've never met an Armininan who believes in prevenient grace. In fact they deny it vehemently. God is waiting for you to start the ball rolling by believing, and once you do, he reciprocates by laying on the conditionally-saving grace.
Now for your Calvinist version... well, let's just say it's a good thing I like you. Love covers a multitude of sins, and right now the love should be tangible in your vicinity.
The correct veiw, of course, is that that must refer to it's nearest antecedent, which is faith, not grace.
Now, how about a PD version-
By grace you have been saved from your previous state of uselessness through finding your SHAPE, and that not of diligent Bible study, it is the result of blindly following RW through 40 days of mistranslation, eisegesis, and painfully distorted hermeneutics, lest God get the glory.

I would love to see a Smurficized version...and Brother David, I'm going to have to add the PD version to the list. :p

Here is a few. The first I like as it does not portray "Grace" as a magic spell. The second one had me lauging out loud.
Eph 2:8 For by favour you have been saved, through belief, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of Elohim, (9) it is not by works, so that no one should boast. --The Scriptures
Eph 2:8 Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It's God's gift from start to finish! (9) We don't play the major role. If we did, we'd probably go around bragging that we'd done the whole thing! --The Message
Eph 2:8 For it is by God's grace that you have been saved through faith. It is not the result of your own efforts, but God's gift, so that no one can boast about it.
Eph 2:9 [ SEE 2:8 ] --GNB

The Message is sounding a whole lot like hip hop. :p
Yo, whazzap yo?
Written by Doug on 2005-04-20 10:52:52
It is my understanding that any sentence written in the speech of hip hop should be punctuated with the word "yo." At least that's the pattern I've seen on the cartoons I've seen on Nickelodian... my primary source of cultural information, yo.
LOL

Also if you say stuff like "Check it" and "peace out" I think it adds to that hip hop feel. Of course, once you start adding arbitrary spanish words ("What's up, you, ese?") you slip right into Spanish Hoodlum. Personally I've never known people to do this anywhere except in comic books and television. :grin

For it is by God's and goddess's grace that you have been saved through faith in your inner being. It is not the result of your own efforts ( except when you work magic booty), but God's gift or spell or white magic, so that no one can boast about anything but peace.
